What is Augmented Reality (AR)?

Augmented Reality connects the digital world with physical elements. The aim is to create a virtual environment that everyone can use. Undoubtedly the low entry barrier contributes to this. A user who wants to experience augmented reality is not forced to buy special AR glasses, because their own smartphone or tablet is enough. The only limitation is the hardware performance of our devices.

This requires the development of a corresponding application using AR technology for mobile or desktop devices. Their task will be to implement digital elements in the real world. This means that the image of our world that we see on the screen of the device is combined with computer-generated graphics and 3D animations. A good example would be the game Pokémon GO, which has achieved worldwide success with its augmented reality technology.

AR can also be implemented directly in the web browser. This works very well in e-commerce (particularly visually). By using augmented reality technologies, you can use a three-dimensional object on a website instead of a product photo.

What is Augmented Reality (AR)?

Most people are not even aware that they are encountering augmented reality. In many cases, it is even more common than you think. The most popular are applying different filters to the face and environment in apps like TikTok, Instagram or Snapchat. However, it is good to know that AR is not only used for entertainment. It is increasingly being used in many industries such as e-commerce, education, automotive or to simplify processes.

Three-dimensional objects on the screen are not everything. With augmented reality, we can display an object in full size so that we can at least try it on in our own space.

How does AR work?

Augmented Reality uses computer to view, mapping, and depth-tracking to show the user relevant content in the right place. These features allow cameras to collect, send, process data, and then display digital content that matches what you’re currently seeing. The goal is to look like that. If we put on special glasses or look through the lens of our phone and run the corresponding application. We go into the virtual-real world.

Finally, a brief summary. Augmented Reality enriches the physical user environment with context-relevant digital content in real-time. The possibilities and ways of using AR technology are growing day by day, and the smartphone is enough to help us experience them.
